You have Gasol to be kidding me!!

Well I’m sure most of you have heard by now that we have lost Marc Gasol to a tear of the abdomen. Who knew he had abs? More sit-ups this offseason Marc! So right as we get one Gasol brother back from injury, we lose the other, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time with playoffs going currently going on. Marc has been labeled “out indefinitely”. Personally, I hate that label. What it should say is “We have no flippin clue when he’ll be back or if he will be back”. If I’m a Marc Gasol owner and playoffs are starting this week, I can’t afford to let him just rot on my bench, so I’m adding Ed Davis (11/8/5blk) who filled in nicely last night. Another nice add is Darrell Arthur (18/7/2) but I would much rather own Davis. Both should see a ton of run regardless of whether they are starting or not. Also, Jared Bayless (30/4/3) looks to benefit as well as he was red hot last night while playing nearly 39 minutes. All three are nice adds for the stretch run if you are looking for the playoff firepower. For playoff strategy see last weekend’s posts! Also, at the bottom I have listed this week’s schedule along with number of games per team and some player recommendations for streaming. Now let’s get to what else I saw in fantasy basketball Saturday night …

Tyler Hansbrough – 7/6/3 Psycho T should be a nice play as long as Davis West is out. West doesn’t sound like a sure thing to return this week.

Nazr Mohammed – 11/7/3/blk Started in place of Joakim Noah who sat out with that dreaded plantar Fasciitis issue. My guess is Noah probably misses a few more games.

Taj Gibson – 11/5/2blk Taj is definitely the add with Noah being out. You can blame the average line on foul trouble.

Jeff Green – 12/5/4/1/2 Started with Kevin Garnett out and is a much better play when starting.

Jordan Crawford – 21/5/3 Looks like he will be getting Jeff Green’s bench minutes is you need some scoring.

Brandon Knight – 10/6/4/5 to’s Returned from injury and got normal minutes. Get him back in your lineup.

Rodney Stuckey – 13/2/8/blk Still got his run but can be downgraded with Brandon Knight back.

Fart of the Night

Byron Mullens – 0/5/1/blk We will get these from Byron once in a while.

Jannero Pargo – 16/1/3/1/1 Getting some of Ramon Sessions minutes. Deep Leaguers be aware.

Landry Fields – 7/4/1/2stl Got another start to guard Melo but will head back to the bench in the next one. Ignore.

Terrence Ross – 13/6/1/blk Got the start with Rudy Gay out. There are whispers of Gay being shut down, which would make Ross an interesting add.

Alan Anderson – 14/4/2 Got his 30 minutes off the bench with Gay out and will be a nice scoring punch in the meantime.

Amir Johnson – 4/4/2/2stl Played only 18 minutes but should go back to the starting lineup in the next one.

Kenyon Martin – 18/7/stl/2blk A nice play with Tyson Chandler out. Sounds like he possibly return on Tuesday.

DeMarcus Cousins – 24/15/3/5blk If you have endured the pain and headaches all season, congrats, it looks to paying off just in time.

Andre Miller – 11/3/5 Started for Ty Lawson, but sounds like Lawson could return in the next contest.

Martell Webster – 10/3/1/stl Looks to be cooling off. C’mon people, Martell Webster didn’t all of the sudden turn into Mitch Richmond.

Cartier Martin – 23/3/3stl with 6 treys. Got a bunch of run with Bradley Beal and Trevor Ariza out.

Stephen Curry – 35/2/8/2stl Rolled his ankle last night but it sounds like disaster was avoided. Sounds like shouldn’t miss any time. If he happens to, Jarrett Jack (11/1/6/stl) is your man.

  1. Hey J-Fort/Hec,

Currently leading 5-3 after week one of my semifinal matchup.

    ME: .4477 FG% .7818 FT% 34 3s 315 REB 205 AST 62 STL 47 BLK 685 PTS HIM: .5000 FG% .8156 FT% 42 3s 240 REB 93 AST 46 STL 44 BLK 625 PTS

I’m debating which two of the following to start this week out of Pau (4 games), Ed Davis (4), Dragic (3), Webster (4), AK47 (4). Any thoughts? I’m thinking I need to focus on retaining BLKS and PTS, and I’m leaning Pau and Davis…

  2. Awesome article Jfort!

(This is a rewritten comment from the last post)

I’ve got a few questions about adding/dropping/streaming etc. We’re in week 2 of the playoffs and my opponent was forced to drop 3 players (who are now on waivers) in order to advance last week, and I get 4 adds.

Currently I’ve got these guys sitting on my team and not quite pulling their weight:
    Bradley Beal
    Byron Mullens
    Josh Mcroberts
    OJ Mayo
    Mo Williams

Recently dropped players (I can use my waiver pick to get one most likely):
    JR Smith
    Jamal Crawford
    Raymond Felton

Now, the question is, who do I go for and who do I drop? Should I try to pick up multiple guys or play the streaming game to maximize the # of guys I have playing this week?

Thanks for all the help this year!

  3. Hey guys thanks for all the advice this year! Im in the middle of the big dance and have of course lost m.gasol. I need to pick up a center and my slim and ugly choices are quinn 4 gms(hopefully vucevic stays out) steimsma 4 gms perkins 3 gms nazr 3 gms. not much else available on the wire. also who do you like this week between p.gasol and e.davis? h2h 5 cat pts reb ast stl blk. id appreciate your opinion and advice.

  4. @icecat: Steimsma makes sense over the course of the whole week but short term O’Quinn is probably better. Leaning Pau over Ed by a smidge. Toss up there.

  5. HELP! My team needs reb’s, shots, buckets, and free throws. Who should be streamed/locked this week: Kenyon Martin 4, Jason Thompson 3, Hamed Haddadi 3, Jason Maxiell 3, or Carl Landry 3.

Each number represents number of games this wk

  6. Are any of the injured big stars worth a stash now that I have a bye? Rose, Kyrie, Love, M. Gasol

    Tiger Woods y’all,
    Hey Zeus

  7. Hecman/JFort. In the 2nd Round of my Title Defense. My Guard rotation is set, hopefully TyLawson doesnt have a setback. Need Help: Asik or Pekovic at Center this week? Asik has 3 and Tpups have 4Games. ZachRandolph,LarrySanders and AnthonyDavis look like must starts. I have my 4th Forward and Flex spot open to Gallinari,Parsons,Millsap or MoHarkless. Affalo and Vucevic are hurt so Harkless looks like a sleeper but he is a rookie on a bad team. Rockets and Nugs have 3 while Jazz have 4 games. I am almost leaning just ride Gallo and Parsons. Roll the dice on Harkless maybe? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

  8. @Joe: Pek with 4 over Asik. Sure on Galo and Parsons, their games are a bit better all around than Millsap. Considering your other options I don’t see the need to roll with Harkless. Good luck!

  9. With Wade sitting out again, I think I’m going to need to stream a lot this week. I already dropped Beal for Udrih. I think I want to drop Drummond for B. Wright to play tomorrow But I can also drop kaman and/or Foye for shumpert, prigioni, kenyon, budinger, charlie V, maxiell, D.J. White, Wilcox. I could possibly have a max of 3 players on tuesday instead of only Kaman. I’ve got 18 moves left. Not likely to win 3s but I need points, assists, and steals mostly. Not quite sure where I stand in rebounds but could def use a big man. what do you think of O’Quinn tomorrow vs bobcats if vucevic out again or Nazr if Noah is out too?

  10. Yo buddy

Since KG is on a 2 week hiatus which of the 3 would be the best pickup.

    D. Favors

    Thx much

  11. Hecman,

So, I got the news that Garnett will be out of commission for 2 weeks. It so happens that i am in the semis right now and my opponent has Wade, Lebron, Brandon Jennings & Dirk…and Pierce!!! I need to win rebounds in order to have a chance against him. Should I drop KG and pick up Brandon Bass? Jeff Green is not available. Or should I look for some other big guy out there? Our waiver wire is thin right now. Or should I gamble and hope that Garnett comes back next week?

  12. just a vent session. I just lost Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol, Martel Webster, and Ty Lawson in my semi final match up this week. Also I guessed wrong on Ed Davis. looks like Darrel Arthur is getting the start over him. looks like another brutal playoff exit. so bummed!!!

  13. Given that it’s the 2nd round of the playoffs and my team has just been hit with the injury bug, who would you recommend dropping first? Or should I try to hang on to them for longer? Vucevic (concussion), West (back sprain), Webster (abdominal strain), Joe Johnson (quad contusion). I don’t think I can afford to stash/hang onto all of them and there are no clearcut timetables for their return so I don’t know what to do! I can grab Knight off waivers, Budinger, Damien Wilkins, Kenyon Martin, Hinrich, Courtney Lee. Help please.

  14. Hey Hec, update on my previous comment. I still have 18 moves for the season. For tomorrow’s games I am thinking, drop drummond, pick up B Wright. Also drop Foye and pick up another guy who plays tomorrow: Shumpert, Prigioni, Bledsoe, Budinger, Willie green. Then, after midnight I can drop the guy I just added for foye and pick up E’Twaun Moore for his game vs Bobcats. Or should I hold Foye or do you think one of these guys is better for wednesday ? (mostly thinking one game not necessarily ROS): Wilkins Vs. MIL, Ross @ATL, C.J. Watson @POR, Nazr vs. MIA, Temple @OKC, Bledsoe or Green @ NOH (would save me a move with the back to back), Ellington vs. BOS

    It’s starting to get HECtic!

  15. you can see my hesitation on Foye. I’m always asking if I should drop him lol. Glad I didn’t swap him for Devin Harris. Fear of Harris injury plus Randy has been cold. Which means the hot streak is coming ;)

  16. @allballs – I like the Oquinn add. They will probably be cautious with Vuc.

@Whodat – Taj is the best add here while Noah is out. Taj plays once this week, then Sat and Sun. If Noah were to miss time into the weekend, he could be huge. Otherwise I would go favors, then Ro-Lo.

@DZL571 – If I were you I would add someone for him. Sounds like the Celtics are being very cautious with KG. Bass is a decent add. Anyone else available.

@Adrian – I wouldve gone Davis too. You still made the right call. Dont give up just yet as it sounds like Gay practiced today. Also, just drop Webster for one of the hot streamers I listed.

@Nick – Lose Webster for Knight ASAP. We should have news on West and Vuc tomorrow as they could be back very soon, ya never know. Any other possible adds?

@allballs- I like the moore vs CHA matchup. Wilkins could be a sneaky stream also. At the same time its tough to pass up 2 games on one add.

  17. Thank you J-Fort….

Would you say knight should be all around more productive then stuckey here in out? Swap one for the other?

  18. Great Article J-Fort!!!

I need to get a player that plays tomm and thursday as I am being out man gamed.

Darren Collison is sitting there. Is he worth a grab to pad some guard stats? I would drop Devin Harris for him.

  19. Hi idols Hec and Jfort, Moore just had a monster game today. Will he continue that? Will you choose him over Livingston ROS? Thanks!

  20. sorry mad badd, I could add Mike James too. I thought he was already grabbed. So would u take James over Collison?

Also, Is Courtney Lee worth putting a bid on in our auction waiver wire? seems he will be back tomorrow.

  21. @whodat – No Problem! yeah, even though he is inconsistent, I trust Knight more at this point. He’s also capable of big games.

@SDPZ – Thanks Bud. I would probably go Collision. Much safer. Lee probably not worth it. Depends on who your’e droopping though.

@boleros – Moore looks like the new starter at SG with Afflalo out. If youre looking for upside go for it!

  22. Would you still rank Nate Rob and Jarrett Jack higher than Moore for ROS? thanks idols hec and jfort!

  23. Thanks JFort. I already picked up Bayless on Sunday. No other good adds except for Alan Anderson and the other than the ones I mentioned. But I dropped Webster and picked up KMart for Tuesdays game then dropped KMart for Knight. So now I’m just holding West, Vuc, and Johnson. I have a full day on Wed and Fri where i can bench them. But Thursday West plays and Sat ill have to play 2 of them.

  24. Btw, just in case it helps, here’s my team. I already lost Kyrie right before the playoffs started and was the 2nd seed:

    Dragic, Rubio, Jack
    Joe Johnson, Bayless, Knight
    Jr Smith, Parsons
    West, Favors, Amir, Zbo,
    Vucevic, Monroe
